Hello Shark Families,
We had a record turnout for our first meet of the season, and the energy and excitement were incredible! Congratulations to all of our Sharks on a fantastic start and some outstanding swims. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers, you really helped make this a well run event for the kids! Shout out to the BAC Staff, Beth LaBelle, Laura Shullman, Kelly and Christian Groth, Tom Peard, Arielle Helfman, Dilnaz Tejani, Meredith Taunt, and FIN Zone parent volunteers for really making this a flawless event.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out all of our 2026 sponsors, please check them out here! I’ve personally used some of these sponsors and have had nothing but an amazing experience! Take a look at what these talented Shark parents have to offer, refer your friends. Thank you to Mark King for helping organize!

While the end of the school year can be a busy time for many families, it’s a relatively quiet week in the Shark world before the fun ramps up again the following week.

Coach’s Corner
Hello, Sharks!
Congrats again on a great Blue & White meet. As I said, we are starting in a much better position than last season, but that doesn’t mean things will be easy and smooth sailing this season. We still have work to do between now and the end of July! Regarding the Blue and White meet, your child may have swam an event but they will not have a result in Commit or on Meet Mobile. This is because the coaches saw a stroke infraction at some point during their race that would have resulted in a disqualification (DQ) in a dual meet. These can be things like a one hand touch in breast or fly, finishing on their stomach in backstroke, among other things. This helps us focus on what we need to work on in practice amongst the groups. The results from all our meets (including Blue and White) are sent to the league and are entered into a top times database and any time that is not legally finished cannot be submitted.
Additionally, this may be the first time some Sharks have swam during the summer. If you swam for a middle school, high school, or club team (BBD, MCA, etc) during the winter, those times were swum in short course yards (SCY). BAC and most summer swim clubs are short course meters (SCM). You may also have noticed that your child’s times were slower today than what they swam during the winter months. This is simply because they are swimming a longer distance (roughly 10% further) than in a pool during the winter.
On to my message for this blog! Last week I talked about streaks and how gamifying your training can make it more fun and help you hold yourself accountable. This week will be something similar but more focused on the day-to-day practices. Throughout a workout, we will work on drills and skills, kicking, swimming, going easy, going fast, racing our teammates, and racing the clock. There are lots of things to think about so it can be hard to make sure you are doing everything correctly all the time. What I tell my high school boys is pick one thing each day to be AWESOME at. For example, someone in the Jaws group could focus on 4 GREAT dolphin kicks every wall the entire practice. Someone in Tigersharks may focus on 2 strokes, or 1 cycle, off every wall without taking a breath for the entire workout.
Focusing on one thing like I mentioned above will help make us 1% better each day. If you challenge yourself to be 1% better each day, that quickly adds up to a TON of progress over the course of 8 weeks. This week pick something to be your goal and nail it every length, every day! The more consistent you are, the easier your goal will become without using as much brainpower allowing you to focus and improve in another area of your swimming.
Keep up the good work in the pool! SHARKS ROCK!
