- Hello Shark Families,
The countdown is over—school is out, summer is here, and Shark Week has arrived! 🦈🎉
We’ve got an action-packed week ahead with a meet, clinics, team events, and plenty of opportunities for our swimmers to connect and have fun. If you check each of the items off as I have them listed below you should be all set for the week.
If you are new to the swimming world I strongly urge you to read our post about “How to Prepare for a Swim Meet?”. It will help answer a lot of questions you may have about both away and home meets.
PLEASE NOTE: In partnership with the board, we ask that swimmers keep their phones put away during practices, meets, and bus transportation. These moments provide valuable opportunities for teammates to bond, support one another, and strengthen the team culture that makes the Sharks so special.
We can’t wait for a fun-filled Shark week with our Shark family. Let’s make it a great one!

Coach’s Corner
Hello, Sharks!
We have reached our first week of morning practices, our first meet is Thursday, and IT’S SHARK WEEK! We have a bunch of great events throughout the week capped off with our Olympian Clinic with Lilly King, the world record holder in the 100 meter breaststroke!
It’s going to be a great week and I’m looking forward to it.
So far in my posts, I’ve talked about consistency, how streaks make things more fun, and focusing on a skill and getting 1% better each day. Today I want to talk about how champions find a way to challenge themselves.
Champions find challenges in the mundane moments in the pool. There will not always be someone faster than you to chase. Not every practice is wildly exciting. Finding challenges, finding ways to keep things motivating, finding opportunities to turn a competitive spark into a bonfire is how champions raise the bar.
So why do we NEED to challenge ourselves?
Challenges for you to be present. Can you do one additional dolphin kick off of a wall? Can you win every turn against your teammates? Challenges keep you focused on getting better.
Challenging yourself keeps you improving. Getting better is an upward cycle of pushing yourself. As you continue to improve, you consistently raise the bar and make things more challenging.
Challenging yourself builds confidence. Confidence comes from seeing a pattern of excellence. Choosing to challenge yourself builds confidence because you know you are raising the bar for yourself and getting better.
So when you go to practice, put aside the mentality of simply ‘completing the workout’ and find a way to challenge it.
SHARKS ROCK!
Coach Paul
