We are sending out our newsletter a little early since many of us will be busy with Mother’s Day weekend among many other things. First, we want to wish all of our amazing Shark Moms a very Happy Mother’s Day! 💐I’m looking forward to seeing some Sharks at the BAC Mother’s Day Brunch this Sunday. I hope your day is filled with fun and relaxation before we race to finish out this busy school year. Thank you for everything you do to support our swimmers and our team—we truly appreciate you!
And speaking of an exciting time ahead…
The wait is over—our swim season officially kicks off Monday! 🎉 Special shout out to Greg Tester, Chuck Champine and their team for working around the clock to get the pool ready this week! Thank you to Beth LaBelle, Jen Dillon, and Julianne Neinburg for doing some much needed spring cleaning to our Shark office! When you stop by the pool this week, you may notice the beautiful brand-new gutter grates around the pool. It was a much-needed update! Thank you to Derek and board for making it happen!
We can’t wait to see everyone back at the pool! We know spring sports are in full swing but stop by practice when you can—even a little time in the water is better than none. There’s nothing better than swimming with Sharks! 😉

Coach’s Corner
Hello, Sharks!
It’s finally here! We are starting the 2026 season! I know end of school year activities are crazy with sports and extracurriculars, but we would love to see those Shark faces as much as possible! As with anything, the more you show up, the more progress you will make. We have a great and knowledgeable coaching staff that is eager to help your kids improve, build a love for the sport, and have fun!
Good news though! Even if it’s a little chilly or rainy, we will still have practice. The pool is heated to over 80 degrees and we will keep our Sharks moving. Practice will only be cancelled for a few reasons including thunder/lightning, it’s raining so hard we can’t see the bottom of the pool, or a mechanical issue (we may still have practice and play games with the team).
Finally, we have some sign ups for you located under the JOBS tab.
If you are a new swimmer, there is a sign up for a placement swim so we can place your child in the group that will set them up for success.
If you are a fin parent, we have fin practices that start at either 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM. Spots are limited in each group so we maintain a 5:1 swimmer to coach ratio.
Swim meet sign ups are available as well! All Sharks are able to swim in our three home meets. Tigersharks and up are able to swim in our away meets. Additionally, there are other meets like the Pontchartrain Relay meet or the DYC 10 & Under mini meet. These meets are an additional cost, usually include a t-shirt, and meal. These are a great opportunity to race against other teams we don’t normally see throughout the season.
Finally, swim clinics. These will be located in Commit under the Program tab. They were posted under the Jobs section, but we needed to shift this to the app due to some limitations on the Commit platform. These are great opportunities for your swimmer to get additional technical instruction on a specific skill.
That’s all for now. See you at the pool!
Coach Paul

🏊♂️ Lilly King Swim Clinic: Learn from the Best
We’re excited to offer our Lilly King Swim Clinics on June 19–20 (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM).
- Day 1: Freestyle & Backstroke
- Day 2: Breaststroke & Butterfly
These clinics are open to swimmers ages 8 and up (Tigersharks and higher) who are legal in the strokes they sign-up. You don’t need to be an advanced swimmer—this is a supportive environment focused on growth, technique, and confidence-building.
As an added bonus, participation also gives back: a portion of proceeds will support our swim team, and another portion will benefit Detroit Swims, our MICSA charity partner. Spots are limited, please sign-up and secure your spot in the BAC App or Member Portal. The clinic will open up to non-members next week so secure your spot.
Cost: $150 (1 day) | $275 (2 days)

💙 Sponsorships: Making the Season Possible
Our Shark season wouldn’t be the same without the support of our sponsors. These contributions help cover so many of the extras that make the experience special—like ribbons, awards, bagels, transportation, and team celebrations.
This year, we’re especially excited to fundraise for new backstroke ledges. These starting block accessories help swimmers get a stronger, more stable push at the start of backstroke races, improving both performance and safety. These ledges will be used at MICSA Finals and at other MICSA clubs.
Please find details on our Sponsorship Opportunities here.
📅 Sponsorship deadline: June 1
